Bernie Lunzer

President of the Newspaper Guild-CWA

Bernie Lunzer has served since 2008 as president of the Newspaper Guild-CWA, a union representing journalists and media professionals in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. He is a vice president of the Communications Workers of America.

Lunzer has served as secretary-treasurer of TNG-CWA since 1995. He has worked on and initiated several future-of-work initiatives, and has actively pursued alternative ownership strategies since the demise of Knight-Ridder in 2006. Lunzer worked in news, advertising, circulation and marketing in his 10 years at the St. Paul Pioneer Press in Minnesota, and also worked with the Star Tribune in Minneapolis in his role as administrative officer of the Minnesota Guild from 1989-1995.
