Laressa Watlington

Multimedia Editor for Viva Colorado

Laressa Watlington is a bilingual multimedia journalist based in Denver. She teaches digital journalism at the University of Denver and has trained Latino journalists in workshops sponsored by the International Center for Journalists.

Laressa has experience in print, broadcast and online journalism. She won two Editor & Publisher awards for the development of the bilingual news website and an Emmy for her videography in the documentary Final Edition. Laressa’s news and feature reports for the Viva Colorado and the Denver Post were recognized with top awards from the Colorado AP Editors and Reporters and the Society of Professional Journalists. She has also received honors from the Best of the West Regional Awards. Laressa received multiple awards for multimedia projects and videography while working at the Rocky Mountain News.

In 2013, Laressa opened the video production company Denver Promo Studios, where she works as executive producer. She has a B.A. in journalism from Marymount University and an M.A. in interactive journalism from American University.
