Leila Nachawati Rego

Human Rights Activist and Professor in Spain

Leila Nachawati Rego is a Spanish-Syrian human rights activist. She is a professor of communications at Carlos III University in Madrid, where she is currently pursuing her PhD in new media under repressive regimes.

As a specialist in communications and censorship in the Middle East and North Africa, she contributes to several projects and online media like Eldiario.es, Global Voices Advocacy and Global Voices Online. She holds degrees in English studies, Arabic studies and international cooperation.
