Vanessa Maria Graber

Organizer and Producer, Common Frequency and G-Town Radio

Vanessa Maria Graber is a media organizer, producer and educator from Philadelphia. She is the host and producer of Really Rad Philly on G-Town Radio and also an organizer with Common Frequency, an organization that helps groups across the country start community radio stations.

While Vanessa was the community radio director of the Prometheus Radio Project, she was part of the coalition of groups that pushed Congress to pass the Local Community Radio Act, federal legislation that will create thousands of new opportunities for noncommercial radio stations. Vanessa gained expertise in radio from working with stations WCHL, WCOM, WDAD, WIUP, WJJZ, WPEB and WUSL and from visiting college and community stations across the country.

Vanessa was a Roy H. Park Doctoral Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has done media research in Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Costa Rica, Croatia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Vanessa also created the website occupyphillymedia.org and is an active organizer with Philly NORML and the Radio for People Coalition.
