Alex Nogales

President of the National Hispanic Media Coalition

Alex Nogales is the president and CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition, a nonprofit civil rights media advocacy organization. NHMC advocates for greater diversity in news reporting and has filed more than 50 petitions with the Federal Communications Commission to deny licenses to broadcasters who fail to portray diversity or support the public interest in their programming. In the past few years, NHMC has emerged as a leader in the fight against hate speech in the media.

Under Alex’s leadership, NHMC has increasingly engaged with media and telecommunications policies that affect how Latinos communicate and are depicted in mainstream media. This includes policies governing diversity and media ownership, Net Neutrality, and broadband deployment and adoption.
