Denver, April 2013

Boston, April 2011
More than 2,500 people from 48 states and nine countries packed Boston’s Seaport World Trade Center for the fifth NCMR in April 2011. Speakers included former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi; Tony Award-winning actress Sarah Jones; FCC Commissioners Mignon Clyburn and Michael Copps; Democracy Now! hosts Amy Goodman and Juan González; U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders; GRITtv host Laura Flanders; Center for Media Justice Executive Director Malkia Cyril; Free Press President and CEO Craig Aaron and activists from Boston to Minneapolis to New Orleans and beyond.

Minneapolis, June 2008
More than 3,500 people attended the fourth NCMR in Minneapolis. Notable speakers included journalists Bill Moyers, Dan Rather, Phil Donahue and Naomi Klein; Internet visionaries and new media innovators Lawrence Lessig, Tim Wu and Arianna Huffington; and policymakers Sen. Byron Dorgan, Rep. Keith Ellison and FCC Commissioners Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein.

Memphis, Tenn., January 2007
The third NCMR in Memphis brought together more than 3,000 people to build better media and dance on Beale Street. Notable speakers included Bill Moyers; actors and activists Jane Fonda, Geena Davis and Danny Glover; civil rights leaders Van Jones and Rev. Jesse Jackson; and policymakers Rep. Ed Markey, Sen. Bernie Sanders and FCC Commissioners Copps and Adelstein.

St. Louis, May 2005
The second NCMR focused on the themes of media policy and media activism. More than 2,000 people participated. Speakers included comedian (and future senator) Al Franken, music legend Patti Smith, journalist Amy Goodman, commentator Jim Hightower and FCC Commissioners Copps and Adelstein.

Madison, Wis., November 2003
More than 150 activists, intellectuals, policymakers, educators and media practitioners spoke at the first NCMR. Speakers included Bill Moyers, Al Franken and Sen. Russ Feingold. Nearly 1,500 people attended.
